Part I

Morophological Transformation of Cancer Cells Caused by Plasma Emission Field Treatment (PEFT).

Cancer Cell experiments 'in Vitro' (an explanation):

The potential affects of a new cancer treatment are usually first tested with cancer cells 'in vitro'. This means that the cancer cells are very carefully selected from an 'established cell line' (a particular type of cancer cell which has been very carefully studied, analyzed and cultured for the purpose of doing cancer research). The cancer cells are grown in special plastic dishes and cancers which are 'adherent' attach themselves to the bottom of the plastic dish. Cancer cells which are not 'adherent' tend to float around in the dish but sometimeswill cluster together, depending on the precise cell line you are working with. Cell lines are often identified by 'codes', such as K562, which designates a type of human leukemia (cancer of the blood) which we experimented with. Cancer cells are introduced into the plastic dishes using special laboratory techniques in which 'adherent cells are forced to 'let go' of the plastic dish, then they are 'split' (essentially thinned out in numbers), new 'culture media' is added (this is a liquid which contains essential nutrients for the cancer cells), then they are placed in new plastic dishes, eventually settling to the bottom and attaching to the new plastic container (in the case of 'adherent cells') where they establish themselves and start to grow very rapidly (much the way a cancer tumor grows in the human body).

Because cancer cells can be grown in this manner, 'in vitro', it is in these small plastic dishes where new cancer drugs are usually tested on them. This way, it's very easy for the cancer researchers to simply count how many cancer cells were killed by the new treatment....comparing the number of cells that lived vs. the number of cancer cells that died. There is also a slew of very sophisticated biomolecular tests which can be given to these 'cancer cell tissue culures' which can reveal the mechanism of action of the new treatment. This process of 'cancer cell tissue culture' testing is quite standard in the cancer research industry and is of tremendous value in helping to determine the potential affects of any new cancer treatment. In addition to a special 'culture media' (a liquid containing special nutrients for the cancer cells) and special plastic dishes, the cancer cell 'tissue cultures' also require a CO2 incubator which maintains an environment in which cancer cells tend to thrive: 37 degrees celsius and 5% CO2 (carbon dioxide) in the air in the incubator (normal air you breathe every day generally contains less than 1% CO2). The business of culturing cancer cells along with the history of the first cancer cell line is beautifully explained in the book: "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot.

Our first experiments in the affects of Plasma Emission Field Treatment (PEFT ) on cancer cell were done in a major cancer research center with several established cell lines of human pancreatic and other types of cancer. The cancer scientists had advised us that pancreatic cancer was an extremeley deadly disease, very difficult to treat. They also advised us that pancreatic cancer is one of the slower growing cancers, a point that will later turn out to be rather important in our research work.

Category I: Morphological Transformation of Human Cancer Cells Caused By Plasma Emission Field Treatment (PEFT):

Affects of PEFT Treatment on Human Pancreatic Cancer Cells

The importance of 'cell morphology' in cancer research: "Cell Morphology" basically refers to the size and shape of the cancer cells. Each type of cancer cell seems to have its own special shape and size that it prefers, especially when the cell is 'quiescent' (not dividing at the moment). The cancer lab experts advised Novobiotronics that "any change in the cell morphology caused by our experiments would be a very good thing, because if you can change the cell 'morphology', that means you are probably slowing down the rate of growth of the cancer." Anything which might slow down the rate of cell division (growth) of the cancer cells could translate into more time for the cancer patient!

NOVOBIOTRONICS' EARLIEST EXPERIMENTS ON HUMAN PANCREATIC CANCER CELLS CAUSED DRAMATIC CHANGES IN THE CELL MORPHOLOGY (SIZE AND SHAPE OF CELLS). CHANGES IN CELL MORPHOLOGY CAN CAUSE THE CANCER TO GROW AT A SLOWER RATE THAN NORMAL (SLOWING DOWN THE PROGRESS OF THE CANCER!)

Below are two photographs taken through a microscope after some of our very first PEFT experiments on human pancreatic cancer cells. The upper photo shows the normal cancer cell morphology (cell shape and size) of a type of human pancreatic cancer cell known as 'Mia Paca'. This top photo (below) is what the cancer cells looked like through the microscope BEFORE being exposed to PEFT (Plasma Emission Field Treatment) . The lower photo shows a dramatic change in the shape of the cells caused by PEFT. In this early experiment, the cells were simultaneously treated with a type of chemotherapeutic drug known as Gemcitabine, which is the standard drug used for pancreatic cancer. The cancer experts in the research laboratory where these studies were done advised us that 'GEMCITABINE DOES NOT CAUSE THESE CHANGES IN CANCER CELL MORPHOLOGY and that they (the scientists) had never seen pancreatic cancer cells go through these changes seen in these photos. The cancer experts said they "had never seen anthing like this before" and that by changing the cell size and shape ('morphology'), we were slowing down the growth rate of the cancer!

ABOVE: Normal pancreatic cancer cell morphology prior to exposure to our electronic treatments with PEFT .

ABOVE: The same human pancreatic cancer cells following treatment with PEFT. Note the dramatic change in size and shape of the cancer cells..... note in particular the long extended antenna-like structures that grew out of the cancer cells.... in direct response to Plasma Emission Field Treatments [PEFT ]. Many subsequent experiments have proven that this is a new phenomenon with a fairly predictable pattern of changes in cell morphology. The extension of these 'bio-antennae' by the cancer cells is the first part of a process that leads to their eventual destruction. These extended antenna-like outgrowths caused by PEFT appear to be a phenomenon unique to human pancreatic cancer cells when exposed to PEFT.
